WeaveVM is the first EVM-compatible chain to unlock Arweave’s potential for extremely low-cost onchain storage. Smart contracts on WeaveVM inherit the ability to read and write to Arweave natively, meaning Arweave can be used as a cheap and infinitely scalable data store.
With KYVE’s Trustless API now accessible from the smart contract layer, the scope of accessible data broadens to include all Ethereum blob data from L2s like Arbitrum, Optimism, Mode, and more.
This enables fully onchain data-intensive dApps.
Imagine decentralized social, gamefi, or any web2-like use case being possible without cost-effective storage. To put it in perspective, storing calldata on Ethereum costs around $800/MB. On WeaveVM, which inherits Arweave’s permanent storage, it’s around $0.05/MB.
The WeaveVM testnet is now live, and we’re excited to support developers deploying dApps that take advantage of this new functionality.
Prize pool
We’re offering a prize pool of $10,000 in $WVM tokens to 3 prizewinners:
- 1st prize: $6000 in $WVM
- 2nd prize: $3000 in $WVM
- 3rd prize: $1000 in $WVM
The WeaveVM token is not yet live. Prizes will be issued as contracts entitling winners to WVM token grants under ecosystem vesting terms.
Judging criteria
We’re looking for dApps that use WeaveVM’s Arweave and KYVE precompiles to demonstrate previously impossible use cases on the EVM and show what’s possible when the storage barrier is lifted.
With WeaveVM’s Arweave precompiles, dApps can use Arweave storage from inside the EVM smart contract layer.
With KYVE’s Trustless API integrated as a WeaveVM precompile, blob data from any Ethereum L2 can be read and computed by EVM smart contracts.
In short: data from Arweave and Ethereum, natively available to dApps, inside smart contracts.
We’ll judge dApps on ambition, novelty, and technical prowess, not a polished UI or fancy branding. Winners will be fast-tracked onto the WeaveVM Ecosystem Fund which provides further opportunities for funding and connections.
